Mr. R. Geoffrey Cave, C.B.E., B.C.H., Hon. L.L.D., UWI - Chairman
Elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1975 after serving as Managing Director for five years. Prior to that position, he held various roles in the company since 1963, the year in which he joined the family-run business at the time.
In 2007, the University of the West Indies conferred on him an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) and in the Queen New Years’ Honour’s List in 2003, he was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. His distinguished career in business in Barbados and the region was recognized in 2011 when he was honoured with the Caribbean Master Entrepreneur Award.
Geoffrey holds a B. Comm. from McGill University in Canada.
Mr. John M. B. Williams, FCA - Chief Executive Officer
Joined Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd as Chief Executive Officer in 2006. Prior to joining Cave Shepherd, John worked for the Goddard Group of Companies from 1988 to 2006, the United States Agency for International Development from 1986 to 1988 and the London and Barbados offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Price Waterhouse).
Past appointments include former Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Barbados Investment & Development Corporation and the Barbados Institute of Management & Productivity (BIMAP). Former President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, former Deputy President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados and former Director of Barbados Tourism and Investment Inc
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Manchester University. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (FCA) and the institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (FCA).
Professor V. Eudine Barriteau, GCM - Independent Director
Eudine was elected to serve on the Board of Cave Shepherd & Co. Limited in April 2008. In 2012, she was appointed as a member of the Governance Committee.
Eudine is the Principal of the University of the West Indies Open Campus, a post she assumed August 1, 2014. Her responsibilities include overseeing the expansion of on-line, distance education, particularly those linked to programmes provided by residential campuses, garnering solid links with The UWI’s Single Virtual University Space System and broadening the delivery of face to face, professional programmes at The University’s more than 46 Open Campus sites.
She was the first Head of the Centre for Gender and Development Studies – A position she held for fifteen years and the first woman at the University of the West Indies to be appointed Campus Coordinator for the School for Graduate Studies and Research. This is a position she held for four years before being appointed Deputy Principal at the Cave Hill Campus. Professor Barriteau has had an outstanding academic career with numerous scholarly writings to her credit. She serves on a number of Boards and Committees regionally and internationally.
In celebration of Barbados’ 47th Anniversary of Independence in 2013, the Barbados Government awarded Prof. Barriteau the Gold Crown of Merit, the country’s third highest honour in recognition of her invaluable contribution to gender and development.
Mr. Roger M. Cave, CA, CFA - Executive Director
Roger is the founder and Managing Director of Fortress Fund Managers Limited which has successfully managed the Fortress Caribbean Growth Fund, Fortress Caribbean Property Fund, Fortress Caribbean Pension Fund and the Fortress Caribbean High Interest Fund.
Roger is a CFA charterholder as well as a Chartered Accountant. Roger is a board member of the Barbados Stock Exchange and CariCris, the Caribbean's sole credit rating company.
Mrs. Maureen D. Davis - Executive Director
Appointed to serve on the Board of Cave Shepherd in 2007 and currently the Chief Development Officer of one of Cave Shepherd’s major associated companies, Duty Free Caribbean (Holdings) Ltd. Maureen has held this post since that company’s formation in 2000. Having joined Cave Shepherd in 1983, she has held various positions within the company and has been instrumental in leading numerous projects in retail operations.
Maureen serves on the Boards of the Tourism Development Corporation and Fortress Caribbean Property Fund.
Mr. Robert M. Harvey-Read - Non-Executive Director
Robert was elected to serve on the Cave Shepherd Board in April 2008 and is a member of the Audit Committee.
He is the founder and Managing Director of Cornerstone Builders Direct LLC, a strategic global supply chain sourcing firm serving Builders, Developers, and Architects in the Caribbean and Americas. Prior to this, Robert was involved in Cave Shepherd’s franchising operations based in Fort Lauderdale. His early career was in the areas of Insurance and Information Technology first with Barbados Fire and General Insurance Co and then with Cave Shepherd.
Robert has also spent a number of years in full-time Christian Ministry in Barbados, Grenada and the USA.
Mr. Lyden Ramdhanny - Independent Director
Elected to the Cave Shepherd Board in April 2008, he previously served as a Director on the Board of retail associate, Duty Free Caribbean (Holdings) Ltd, for 5 years from the inception of that company in 2000. Lyden was also involved in the setting up of Cave Shepherd’s retail operations in Grenada. Mr. Ramdhanny currently serves as the Chairman of the Audit Committee, and is also a member of the Governance Committee.
Lyden is one of Grenada’s most accomplished and recognized citizens. He is highly respected throughout the Grenadian business community having held numerous Private Enterprise and Public service/Governmental posts. He is a board member of Sol Mutuel Limited, a company dedicated to the development and expansion of International Peri Mutuel Markets.
Mr. Richard G. Simpson - Executive Director
In 2004, Richard was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Cave Shepherd & Co. Limited. Richard is a member of the Executive Committee of Duty Free Caribbean (Holdings) Ltd.
Richard joined Cave Shepherd in 1983 and headed up the Delivery and Warehousing Division before taking up his position of General Manager. He has worked in several departments of retail operations and has extensive experience in the sector. Richard was previously engaged in the Agricultural sector.
Mr. M. Grantley Taylor - Independent Director
Grantley is one of the Board’s longest serving members. He presently serves as Chairman of the Governance Committee, in addition to being a member of the Audit Committee and one of the Pension Plan Trustees.
Grantley is now retired having spent most of his working career at Cave Shepherd. He joined the company in 1957 and worked in various departments before being appointed General Manager of Cave Shepherd’s flagship store on Broad Street, a position he held until retirement in 1999. Mr. Taylor also served as Corporate Secretary of the company from 1970 until 1980 when he took a sabbatical to further his studies in Ireland.
Throughout his career, Grantley has been involved with numerous institutions and non-governmental organizations. He served on the steering committee of the Barbados Stock Exchange when the Barbados Central Securities Depository Inc. was formed in 1999. Today, he continues to be an active supporter of the Challenor Creative Arts and Training Centre.
Mr. Edward Ince - Non-Executive Director
Joined the Cave Shepherd Board in April 2012. He is a joint Managing Director of the Prism Services Group of Companies, which operates in several Caribbean and Central American countries offering a range of outscourcing business to business services. For the six years before Edward co-founded Prism in 1993, he was General Manager for the Eastern Caribbean for Fujitsue-ICL Caribbean Limited.
Edward attended York University in Canada between 1980-1984 where he obtained a BSc(Hons) degree in Computer Science.
